Ladies Lounge: Radio City Music Hall

The Ladies Lounge in the Grand Lounge of Radio City Music Hall is really something. To be in there when it's empty is to hear the ghostly sounds of women gossiping, the rap of stilettos, the slight sweetness of Youth Dew in the air. The lounge itself is four rooms: the first room is large, about 700 sq. feet, with sofas and an art deco mural entitled "The History of Makeup." The next room is (I'm guessing) the room to apply the makeup. The makeup chairs are all lined up in perfect order, and the lighting is extremely flattering. The next room is the ablutions room, with sinks in an aqua color. When you're done, there is a step-pedal on the floor that you push which activates the warm air blower so that you can dry your hands. The final room is the one with the toilet stalls...all done in black and white. Leaving the Ladies Lounge, you leave behind the women with their furs, with their high heeled pumps and bright red lipstick, with their coiffed hair and arched eybrows.
