The day has finally come!

It's 5:15am and I've been up for an hour already - loading the luggage onto the bike, getting dressed, trying to remember if I've forgotten anything, and walking the fine line between excitement and panic.

The pack on the back of my bike sits on a little luggage rack and weighs a hefty 50 lbs. All my clothes fit - which is a good thing. I even brought an outfit for working out - which guarantees that I won't work out at all. Sorry, Todd the Trainer. Todd's been working with me for the past month getting me strong for the ride. A daunting task, but I do feel better!

Nigel has loaded the shirts and extra water in his truck - he and Cayla will follow me down and then stay to watch the live broadcast on KUSI Channel 9. We should have about 10 bikes or so meeting us down there - the broadcast should be live on the KUSI website by about noon our time. Look for it!

Okay, time to go and don the jacket and chaps. I can't believe that six months of planning has led to this moment...I'm pretty sure I'm ready...yeah...I am. :-)
